OER Evaluation

More than merely collecting content on a specific subject, strong curation involves carefully selecting content and evaluating it for a specific purpose. When OER are part of the curation process, content deemed useful during the evaluation process can then be customized by the curator, and re-shared for future users.  We reviewed three published rubrics used by educational organizations.  The Achieve Organization rubric is the most comprehensive.  On the website, it also provides instruction on how to use the rubric effectively to curate content.

There are 7 sections within the rubrics.  They include alignment to curricular standards, quality of explanations of subject matter, utility of materials designed to support teaching, quality of assessment, quality of interactivity, quality of instructional tasks and opportunities for deep learning (Achieve.org)

Here is the link to the rubric and instructional video on how to use it.
