Advantages: Free. Many simulations updated to HTML5 (compatibility with many browsers and devices). Makes abstract scientific concepts easier to understand. Virtual lab or inquiry activities are possible. Teacher-created activities/resources are available.

Disadvantages: Some older simulations are flash-based. Simulations can be restrictive with what it shows; may not demonstrate small details depending on teacher focus. Account creation necessary to access teacher-created resources.
